Here are some frequently asked questions for new tutors and anyone interested in joining the Bloom Outreach Program. If your question is not here, you can submit one at the bottom of the page.

Both tutors and students will use the ClassIn application. Tutor meetings, however, will take place on Zoom.

How long are the classes?
The classes are all one hour long, even if you are teaching more than one student at a time.
When do we teach?
There are currently four different time slots for teachers, all on Saturday:
7:30-8:30 AM (EST), 7:00-8:00 PM (EST), 8:30-9:30 PM (EST), and 10:00-11:00 PM (EST).
How many volunteer hours will I receive?
You’ll receive 1.5 volunteer hours for each lesson you teach, to account for both the one-hour lessons and the time it requires to prepare for them.
What if my Chinese isn’t perfect?
As the vast majority of our tutors don’t live in China, it’s expected that their Chinese isn’t completely fluent. Our interviewers will determine whether or not your Chinese is at the level it needs to be to teach effectively.
Where do I see new announcements for classes?
All tutor announcements (about vacation breaks, doing reflections, etc.) will be made through WeChat, which is available on both the App Store and Google Play Store. In addition, once you become a tutor, you will have access to a tutor-only section of this website, where there will be an Announcements & Reminders page.
